Ho to grow my baby's hair fast?

The babies are born cute no matter what. The tiny lips, nose, and ears are too adorable that you can stare at them the entire day. My favorite game to play during pregnancy was to imagine how my babies will look like. There is a lot to imagine, eye color, eye shape, lips, and hair. One of the surprises that will come to you with the birth of your baby is his hair. It can be curly, straight, and thick, or maybe even bald!

No factor can help us to determine how much hair your baby will have. Some babies will be born with a lot of hair but someone will have very little or even no hair. The babies who are born with hair may experience hair fall shortly after the birth. There are few reasons for hair loss experienced by babies.

The hormone levels are high when a baby is inside the womb. So the hair will grow faster in the womb but when the baby comes out the hormone levels will drop slowing down the hair growth. After birth, hair will get into a new growth cycle causing the hair to fall and grow back.

When a baby is born bald or experiences hair loss, it might worry the parents. Being born bald-headed is very common and it is not something to be concerned about. But if you want to grow your baby’s hair fast, you can follow these easy steps.

1.    Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is rich in Vitamin E which is an anti-oxidant and promotes hair growth through increased blood circulation. It is also a good moisturizer for the skin. The research confirms that coconut oil is effective as a hair-friendly product that can be used for grooming.

Your baby can have thicker, fuller hair, if you gently apply coconut oil to the baby’s scalp a few times a week. Coconut oil will not only moisturize your baby’s hair but also will help eliminate cradle caps.

Ensure you use high-quality organic or extra-virgin coconut oil. It should be unrefined which means it was not processed. Apply a small amount to the baby’s scalp and allow the oil to sit for about 20 minutes after a gentle massage. Then rinse the baby’s scalp with warm water.

2.    Brushing

Make it a part of the baby’s after-bath routine to comb, brush, or massage the baby’s head and it can stimulate hair growth. It can the loosen cradle cap and remove the dry skin from the baby’s scalp.

Further, brushing the baby’s head will promote blood circulation to the scalp and as well as the hair follicles. Apply a little bit of oil and gently massage the baby’s scalp with your fingers for few minutes. This will support hair growth and relaxes your baby.

3.    Shampoo

Cleaning the baby’s head properly and regularly will also encourage hair growth. It does not feel fine to apply shampoo every day on your baby but regular shampooing keeps their scalp clean and also loosens the cradle cap. When the dirt is collected on your baby’s scalp, it can cause dryness, which can slow hair growth.

When the baby grows past the newborn age in which you need to bathe him only about once per week, you can wash the baby’s hair every 2 or 3 days. It is recommended to use lukewarm water and a gentle baby shampoo specifically made for babies.

4.    Hair Conditioner

Shampoos can wash away the natural oils in your baby’s scalp and a conditioner is a moisturizing agent that replaces the moisture washed away by the shampoo. A conditioner can help to protect and strengthen the hair, which can promote growth and reduce hair damage. In the same manner that you apply hair conditioner to your hair after shampooing, use an appropriate conditioner on your baby’s hair.

If your baby has textured or curly hair that can be prone to dryness, a hair conditioner will be a must. Apply a conditioner after shampooing, and wash the product from your baby’s hair with warm water.

5.    Soft towels

If you are using a hard or rough towel to dry the baby’s head, it can damage their soft hair follicles and slow hair growth. When drying the baby’s hair after a bath including shampooing and conditioning, be as gentle as possible. Use a very soft towel to gently dry the baby’s hair.

6.    No hair clips and ties

When your baby has a little bit of long hair, you might want to pull them back into a small ponytail or put them together with a hair clip so he will look great for the pictures. But putting your baby’s hair in too tight ponytails can damage their hair follicles and cause hair loss. Rather than using an elastic hairband or a clip, use a silk headband that will be gentle to the hair.

7.    Give a haircut

When your baby has little hair you might not want to cut them off so the parents hesitate to give the baby a haircut. If your baby experiences hair loss or already has bald spots, a haircut will fix patchiness and allow the baby’s hair to grow equally.

It is believed that a haircut can accelerate hair growth but it isn’t proven by research.

When you are cutting your baby’s hair, trim the longer strands first. It is not recommended to use a razor on a baby’s head as you might accidentally cut your baby’s scalp. A trimmer will safely do the job. After a haircut, apply a moisturizer to the baby’s scalp to reduce dryness.

8.    Detangle the knots

Babies with thick curly hair will have a lot of knots in their hair. These hair knots can break the hair and lead to hair loss. So gently brush and detangle the knots on your baby’s hair regularly. A soft brush will massage the scalp while clearing the tangles.

9.    Gelatin

Amino acids can stimulate hair growth and Gelatin is an amino acid. To apply to your baby’s hair, mix one teaspoon of gelatin powder with water. Including a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in the mixture will also improve the health of your baby’s hair.

Honey is considered an antioxidant that restores nutrients to the hair and scalp. Apple cider vinegar will promote hair growth. When you apply the gelatin mixture to the baby’s scalp and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash off the gelatin and put shampoo on your baby’s hair as usual.

10.The diet

The baby needs a good supply of nutrients to grow hair fast and a healthy, balanced diet is essential to growing thicker, fuller, and longer hair.

When the baby is 6 months old and ready to eat solid foods, you can give them foods that are rich in iron, vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin D, zinc, and protein. Green vegetables like green leaves are rich in iron, which will aid to carry blood and oxygen to the hair follicles and stimulates growth.

Butternut squash, Pumpkin, Carrots, Mango

  • Foods with Vitamin B –

Beans, Meat, Eggs, Whole grains, Potatoes
